The Goldstream Station Market is operated by the Luxton Station Market Society, formed in the winter of 2007 to bring a new community market to the West Shore, initiated in response to a strong interest in food security and a belief in community; the original market was located at the Luxton Fairgrounds. Like most other community markets in British Columbia, this market is based on a "you grow it, you make it, you bake, you sell it" philosophy. Our vision is of a complete community market, including fresh local farm produce, quality arts and crafts, great music and other local entertainment.
Goals
> | To manage and operate a sustainable, self-supporting community market in the West Shore region. |
> | To support and promote a sustainable and vibrant local agricultural industry by providing an outlet for the sale of locally-grown and locally-processed agricultural products, and by educating the community about its agricultural heritage and agriculture today. |
> | To support and encourage the arts by providing an outlet for the sale of artisan crafts and other fine art products, and opportunities for local musicians and other entertainers to perform. |
> | To create a positive experience for people who come to market, and to provide opportunities for local non-profit groups to tell their community story, thereby contributing to a sense of community in the West Shore area. |
Membership
